Mt 7:21, 24-27

[Jesus said to his disciples,] 21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
24“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. 25The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. 26And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. 27The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”

Reflection:

House on sand. Jesus makes clear what he wants—action, not rhetoric, words, or promises; good examples, not resolutions; fulfillment of commands, not lip service.

It is not enough to hear God’s word; we must act upon it. Our lives should speak what we know and believe about Jesus. Our relationship with the Lord is not a Sunday affair but a day-to-day journey. Prayer involves not only words but also good works and lasting fruits.

The Gospel calls us to keep our lives deeply rooted in Jesus. Only thus can we be truly strong to withstand the storms of life and overcome temptations.

Jesus has been expressing his love to us. Now is the time to respond.

Have you built your life on Jesus?
Are you living up to what he asks of you?
