Children of Men

Where will you be by 2027? What will the world be like by 2027? This film , based on the book with the same title by P.D. James , gives us hints of what might or what humankind will be by 2027 .

Surely , nobody would want to be in a world where no child has been born for the last 18 years due to infertility of the men then a civil war of some sort is brewing in the country ; and , worst , the only remaining young man born 18 years ago just got stabbed to death! So what about the future? No new birth...country in turmoil and the only young man left for the past 18 years just died! What a future to look forward to.

The piece of good news is that a child is about to be born after 18 years but some one's got to protect the refugee-mother to ensure the child's birth! The rebels are selfish enough to use the would-be baby for their own ends. The soldiers are after refugees . Nobody can be trusted for the survival of the mother and of course , the baby. NO BABY . No future for the world. This is the message of hope in the book and the film.

I like the story, as it gives one a chance to take a closer look at what you value in life. Sometimes , we take for granted the little things like slowing down a bit to smell the flowers , appreciating loved ones for the tiniest of what they do for you,or even valuing life and what it brings. We even waste the scarcest of our resources- natural or manufactured!

In these days of materialism and a lack of appreciation for the beauty of life , some would-be mothers would even trade their babies for careers and economic advancement. Some of us would even leave family for dirty money. Some of us waste a lifetime searching for happiness we don't even understand .There are those who don't know what matters most in life...

Nothing it seems is valuable or sacred anymore...until the day we realize that the future is about to be lost ?

Similarly , the athlete/sportsman ought to realize that his sports is his life so it's important to value whatever he has as a sportsman or athlete be it his strength , skills or even a career. Early in life , the athlete should learn to value and take extra good care of his body and well-being if he is to attain excellence in what he or she does. As an athlete engages in his sports ,it is not important to be the greatest in one's discipline ... the goal is to find greatness in one's being as a result of his discipline!

But you have to see the film to appreciate what I'm sharing , so this is all for now!Better read the book...or watch the movie.

...so you don't have to believe everything this blogger tells you!
