Bounce back...
This principle is always true whether in business or in life...never give up! Learn from your mistakes ! Never lose hope! Always keep the faith!
This article by Francis Kong surely is a big help to all...businessman or plain person alike!
Many people go into business for all the wrong
reasons. One person I know wanted to be freed from his cubicle prison.
He wants to have more time for himself, and so he opens a business and
finds himself needing to work just half a day now that he is his own
boss. Yes, just half a day, meaning all 12 hours of it. Now he’s even more frustrated.
Another person opens up a new business because he was so hurt by his
previous partner, and he wanted to get even. What he’s actually done is
simply burn bridges and run his business based on pure emotions – which
will not get him very far.
I have been asked this question once too many: “Francis, what does it
take to be a good entrepreneur?” And I would always say that, the most
important quality one needs to have in order to be a successful
entrepreneur is the ability to bounce back.
Some people call it resilience, while others call it tenacity. I
simply refer to it as the ability to bounce back from a bad situation
and to profit from your mistakes.
The truth is that everybody makes mistakes. And we’re not talking
about just one or two mistakes, but really plenty. People make even more
mistakes in business. Mistakes can be good, provided they are new each
time and not recurring. But whether old or new, mistakes are painful and
they cost money. And I’d like to call this cost “tuition fee”.
Yes, mistakes may bug you, and get to your nerves, and make you real
mad. But if you have the right attitude, you can learn from the lessons
they’re trying to teach you.
Mistakes happen. Not only do they happen, but they actually keep on happening.
We fail because we wait too long to find out about those mistakes.
And sometimes, when someone in our organization points out to us the
mistakes, we go into denial. Worst, we even shoot the messenger. Always
be on the alert. And be humble enough to ask the front liners for ideas
on how to improve the business. Some mistakes happen due to conditions
beyond your control. Other mistakes happen because of plain stupidity.
Think of the business man who put together a successful
clothing business, and then started taking out huge amounts of cash to
build a palace for himself and his wife. When he ran into business
problems, he discovered he didn’t have the resources to weather them. In
the end, he lost both the company and the house. So what did he do
after? He went out and started another clothing business, got it going,
took out some cash, built another palace, ran into business problems,
and lost both the company and the house. Two times in a row. Some people
never learn.
To look successful is not to be successful!
Better to stay humble, diligent and simple, than to flaunt the little
money you have then lose it, and be a laughing stock among your friends
and loved ones.
Bounce back and learn!
Failures are part of what makes us successful. Welcome trials and tribulations, and be the best that you can be.
