NBA Standings
It's about the middle of the 2010-11 Season and just a few days before the NBA All Star break! Definitely , it's very interesting to see how the Playoffs shape up!
Currently , Western Conference number 1 and league best record belong to the San Antonio Spurs (38-7) while the Boston Celtics (34-10) leads the Eastern Conference! So , if the playoffs start tomorrow, there's no question that San Antonio and Boston will take the number 1 seeds of the Western and Eastern Conferences, respectively!
It's a pretty tight race out there in the East, however, as Miami (31-13) ,Chicago (31-14) , Atlanta (29-16) and Orlando (29-16) slugging it out for number 2 to 4 spots ! However, don't count out New York (23-21), Charlotte (19-25), Philadelphia (18-25) and Indiana (16-25) just yet to make it from number 6 to 8! Even Milwaukee ( 16-26) has the outside chance to land in the Playoffs!
It may not be as competitive out there in the West as Los Angeles ( 33-15), Dallas (29-15), Oklahoma City (28-16), New Orleans (30-16) , Utah (27-18) and Denver (26-18) surely making it from number 2 to 7 spots as expected! At the rear , Portland (25-21), Memphis (22-23) and Phoenix (20-23 ) are scrambling for the last spot !
Given their respective Conference records, it is expected that the following teams will make it , if the Playoffs start tomorrow :
Eastern Conference
1. Boston
2. Miami
3. Chicago
4. Atlanta
5. Orlando
6. New York
7. Philadelphia
8 Charlotte
Western Conference
1. San Antonio
2. Los Angeles
3. Dallas
4. Oklahoma
5. New Orleans
6. Utah
7. Denver
8. Portland
As seen in Playoffs qualifiers and resulting team pairings, I think that the higher seeds in each conference are expected to breeze through the next stage except in the Atlanta vs Orlando , Chicago vs New York ; and , the Oklahoma vs New Orleans match-ups where upsets might happen!
But aren't we getting too far ahead of the story here? After all, it's still a long way to go until the Regular Season ends and the Playoffs begin!
In the meantime, let's just enjoy the coming All Star Weekend...agree?
