North Korea's attempt Friday to launch a rocket has failed

Today's Breaking  News

Below is a news clip of the failed NoKor rocket  fired from the Sohae Satellite Launching Station in Tongchang-ri, along the the Korean peninsula west coast,  this morning at 7.38am (11.38pm Thursday BST) ! This is the 3rd straight failed rocket launch test initiated by North Korea , a sole distinction it proudly claims!

There's no truth to the rumor that North Korea is blaming its long-time ally and benefactor, China, for this embarrassing event which was supposed to honor  its late founding father , Kim Ill Sung on his centennial birth!

Word has it that the 30-metre (100-foot) Unha 3 (Galaxy-3) rocket which exploded just a minute or so after launch was allegedly China-made and was originally intended to be used for the recent Chinese New Year but did not meet production deadline this 2012?

China , ALLEGEDLY, is elated over the result of the launch as it has proven internationally that it can manufacture big rockets that can "disintegrate" into 20 valuable parts for its traditional fireworks display in future Chinese New Year celebrations!

In the meantime, while South Korea is happy that its own SAMSUNG Galaxy tab 10.1 is doing better commercially as an IPad clone, it has expressed disgust that the failed Unha  3 (Galaxy-3) rocket fell just about a hundred miles west of Seoul , S. Korea!

Word from very reliable sources say  that North Korea's Kim Jong Un is happy and is now considering  underground "nuclear" tests using the more popular Bocaue, Bulacan "firecrackers"!

North Korea's attempt Friday to launch a rocket has failed

Looking Up at April 12, 2012 at 7:59 PM

North Korea's attempt Friday to launch a rocket has failed, according to U.S. officials.Data suggests the rocket broke up in mid-flight inside the Earth's atmosphere. Officials tell Fox News the rocket did not fall into any populated areas, suggesting it fell into the ocean.

A 2009 attempt by North Korea to launch a rocket also failed, during its third stage.

The U.N. Security Council will hold a meeting Friday to discuss a possible response the launch, council diplomats said.

The window for North Korea's most recent rocket launch was scheduled during a week aimed at celebrating Sunday's centennial birth of Kim Ill Sung, the country's late founder.

The United States, Japan, Britain, Russia and others say the launch would be a provocation and would violate U.N. Security Council resolutions banning North Korea from developing its nuclear and missile programs. Experts say the Unha-3 carrier is similar to the type of rocket that could be used to fire a missile mounted with a nuclear warhead to strike the U.S. or other targets.

North Korea denies that the launch is anything but a peaceful civilian bid to send a satellite into space. The Kwangmyongsong-3 satellite is designed to send back images and data that will be used for weather forecasts and agricultural surveys.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking for the Group of Eight nations after their foreign ministers met in Washington, said all the members of the bloc agreed to be prepared to take further action against North Korea in the Security Council if the launch goes ahead.

Official: Bin Laden buried at sea

Official: Bin Laden buried at sea
AP – FILE - In this 1998 file photo, Osama bin Laden speaks to the journalists in Khost, Afghanistan and made …

WASHINGTON – A U.S. official says Osama bin Laden has been buried at sea.

After bin Laden was killed in a raid by U.S. forces in Pakistan, senior administration officials said the body would be handled according to Islamic practice and tradition. That practice calls for the body to be buried within 24 hours, the official said. Finding a country willing to accept the remains of the world's most wanted terrorist would have been difficult, the official said. So the U.S. decided to bury him at sea.

The official, who spoke Monday on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive national security matters, did not immediately say where that occurred.

Today's Breaking News : Turmoil in the Arab World 2

Today's Breaking News : Turmoil in the Arab World 2

provided these breaking news :

Back on Jan. 29, 2011, I posted the growing turmoil in the Arab World ! In that post , I cited the instability in Tunisia, uncertainty in Yemen , anger in Lebanon and upheaval in Egypt!  I then asked aloud which Arab country will be troubled next  !

Well , there is still uncertainty in Yemen as protests continue against the government of Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh  on issues of  " 35 % unemployment , high prices. and a nearly stagnant economy" .Similarly, in what became known as the  Tunisian "Jamine"  Revolution, a sudden and explosive wave of street protests ousted the authoritarian president, Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali, who had ruled with an iron hand for 23 years. On January 14, Mr. Ben Ali left the country, after trying unsuccessfully to placate the demonstrators with promises of elections. According to government figures issued later, 78 protesters died and 94 were injured during the demonstrations. " .A new coalition government has since then been formed in Tunisia but is in great danger of collapsing. On the other hand  , anger is still simmering in Lebanon even with a new government in place. The shocker was Egypt which resulted to the fall of longtime strongman Hosni Mubarak less than two weeks after my post on the Arab World's unrest!

I thought the turmoil  in the Arab world will cool down with the ouster of Mubarak and little did most people expect that more Arab countries will be troubled by growing protest actions from the masses.

Now ,who would ever think that Libya , Bahrain and even Morocco will be disturbed by the  protest actions of  their masses!

Libya ? Military strongman Muammar Abu Minyar al- Khadafi , the "Colonel" ,  besieged in the country he has controlled and ruled for 40 years? He was even rumored to have fled Libya for Venezuela ! Khadafi  is now facing a defiant Libya which nobody would have expected  some months back! And his end might come soon...

In the case of Bahrain , who would have ever thought that Bahrainis led mostly by the Shiite majority would get disenchanted with their ruling monarch and call for an end to the authoritarian government of  King Hamad  bin Isa al-Khalifa , from the Sunni!

In Morocco , people are holding protest marches  calling for more democracy and sit-in demonstrations are held in front of Parliament nightly! Already protesters have called for the resignation of government and dissolution of Parliament but have not yet criticised the relatively still popular King Mohammed VI.

The fever is slowly rising in the Arab world and already the rest of the World are taking a close but nervous watch!. Considering the progressing turbulence in the Mid-East and North Africa , could we not help but ask ourselves if their is a bigger power orchestrating the chaos and unquiet?

Here in the Philippines , oil and diesel prices have gone up tonight! While we may be far from the Arab world , the scarcity of oil supply ( whether real or perceived ) due to increasing tensions in the Middle East and North Africa will  adversely affect the lives of a majority of Filipinos! In fact , the DOE has started to consider setting in place some contingency plans in anticipation of an oil crisis!

So what happens  next ? Rising transportation and utility costs? Increased food  and raw materials prices ? Runaway inflation ? Demand for additional pay by workers? Higher costs of credit ? Bankruptcies? Mass lay-offs? Or am I just getting too pessimistic? Maybe just paranoid?

Meanwhile, the turmoil in the Arab World goes on and on... more trouble ahead?
