Mt 7:7-12

[Jesus said to his disciples,] 7“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 9Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread, 10or a snake when he asks for a fish? 11If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.
12“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.”

Reflection:

How much more will your heavenly Father give. We must pray with the conviction that God loves us more than we love ourselves and that the Father wants to do good to us more than we are eager to receive good from God. Thus, we must pray persistently and perseveringly. Kulitin natin ang Diyos!

God guarantees us that our prayers will be answered. This is not an assurance that we will be given exactly what we ask for, but God does guarantee that the Father will give us what is truly good for us. Let us take God at God’s word. God is, after all, not man but God is all-powerful and all-loving.

With prayer, live the Golden Rule:
“Do to others
whatever you would have them do to you.”
