Mk 3:7-12

7Jesus withdrew toward the sea with his disciples. A large number of people [followed] from Galilee and from Judea. 8Hearing what he was doing, a large number of people came to him also from Jerusalem, from Idumea, from beyond the Jordan, and from the neighborhood of Tyre and Sidon. 9He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, so that they would not crush him. 10He had cured many and, as a result, those who had diseases were pressing upon him to touch him. 11And whenever unclean spirits saw him they would fall down before him and shout, “You are the Son of God.” 12He warned them sternly not to make him known.

Reflection:

To touch Jesus. Great crowds from Galilee and Judea, especially people who are sick, are pressing upon Jesus to touch him. They touch him and are healed. It is not sufficient to touch Jesus physically. They have to touch him with their faith as well. It is only the touch of faith that results in the healing of the sick who come in contact with Jesus.

Today we can no longer touch Jesus physically. But we can still touch him by our faith. The touch of faith is what matters to Jesus. Jesus is as accessible to us by faith as he was then, and he is no less powerful today than he was then. How many, even today, continue to experience Christ’s healing through faith.

Reach out to Jesus in faith and experience
the healing he brings.
