Praise of the Father

Lk 10:21-24
21[Jesus]
rejoiced [in] the holy Spirit and said, “I give you praise, Father,
Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from
the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes,
Father, such has been your gracious will. 22All things have
been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except
the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the
Son wishes to reveal him.”
23Turning to the disciples in private he said, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. 24For
I say to you, many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but
did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.”
Reflection:
No one knows… who the Father is except the Son. How
do we know the Father? How do we go to the Father? Jesus declares that
he is our way to the Father. God the Father speaks in the words of
Jesus. The Father moves by the actions of Jesus and heals by the hand of
Jesus. In seeking a deeper encounter with Jesus, we are drawn into an
intimate relationship with the Father. To experience Jesus is to see and
know God the Father. To go to Jesus is to go to the Father.
God
is working in us. God is our companion as we travel through life. We
can always count on God’s help in the face of problems and crises.
God
continually reveals himself, his will, and his plans for us. He makes
use of persons and events to let us know he is with us. If we examine
our varied experiences, we will see the many demonstrations of God’s
love for us.
Are our lives a cause of rejoicing
for Jesus and for other people?
