Jn 14:21-26
[Jesus said to his disciples,] 21“Whoever
has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And
whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and
reveal myself to him.” 22Judas, not the Iscariot, said to him, “Master, [then] what happened that you will reveal yourself to us and not to the world?” 23Jesus
answered and said to him, “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my
Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with
him. 24Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me.
25“I have told you this while I am with you. 26The
Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name—he will
teach you everything and remind you of all that [I] told you.”
Reflection:
He will teach you everything.
Jesus tells us that if we truly love him, we will keep his word, be
faithful, and act in accordance to his word. For the word of Jesus is
not only his; it comes from the Father. By keeping and living the word
of Jesus, we love the Father and are faithful to his will. And like
Jesus, we become united with the
Father.
Jesus makes sure that we will always
remember him, never get lost, and understand his work. He promises to
send the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete who will inspire and motivate us to
respond to the word of Jesus, understand and live it in fidelity and
fruitfulness.
If we have difficulty understanding
Jesus’ word, putting it into practice, and bringing it to others, let us
pray to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, Jesus assures us, will teach
us everything and remind us of all that Jesus has told us.
Pray to the Holy Spiritat the beginning and at the end of your day.
