Judging Others

Today's Reflections

Judging Others

Lk 6:36-38

[Jesus said to his disciples,] 36“Be merciful, just as [also] your Father is merciful.
37“Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. 38Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”

Reflection:

GIVE AND GIFTS WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU. God is a compassionate Father and is unconditionally generous. We, God’s children, are challenged to imitate God: we are to stop judging and condemning; we are called to forgive and to give graciously.

What we do to others will be done to us; we will be treated in the manner we treat others. The good we share will come back to us. And the return in forgiveness and love will be more abundant and overflowing, for God can never be outdone in generosity. We will receive more than we share. We will get more than we give.

Let us, therefore, not be stingy in giving or choosy in helping. Let us not hesitate or be afraid to forgive.

Do I share what I receive from God?
Am I as generous as God has been gracious to me?
