Mt 7:7-12

[Jesus said to his disciples,] 7“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 9Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread, 10or a snake when he asks for a fish? 11If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him. 12“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.”

Reflection:

ASK AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU. God listens to our prayer. Because God knows our needs and truly cares for us, God answers our petitions in the way that is best for us.

But it is not just a matter of asking or knocking. We should be persistent, trusting, patient, and hopeful. We do not walk away and give up. We stay and wait for God.

Besides, we should examine whether the things we ask for will be for our good and for the benefit of others.

Let us not seek what will undermine our salvation. Let us not ask for what will be harmful to others. As Jesus reminds us, we are to do to others whatever we wish them do to us.

What are the good things you pray for Godto give your family and friends?
