The Gentle Mastery of Christ

Today's Reflections

The Gentle Mastery of Christ

Mt 11:28-30

[Jesus said,] 28“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Reflection:

For my yoke is easy, and my burden light. It is said, “Do what you love and you will never have to work another day for the rest of your life.” Things are light and easy when you enjoy doing them. Jesus must enjoy going around and talking about his Father, reaching out to people and being close to them, telling parables to hungry hearts, loving and freeing people. No wonder his yoke is easy and his burden light.

Jesus wants to share with us that lightness of his being. Come to Jesus, forgive, share, inspire, keep faith, be of service to others—these are the real tasks worth living that will make your shoulders relaxed, your smile light, and your heart alive.

Ease the burdens of others by offering your help.
