Beyond the Sunset

Today's Song on Video

Beyond the Sunset

In a month or so , two of my high school friends lost their beloved fathers!

First , a classmate from high school lost her dad , a former officer of the AFP and almost 90 years old when he silently departed. Another, a brod lost his dad - literally a "DAD" from my Order of  DeMolay  days who met his creator at age 85!

It is not usual for me to hear  or learn about the deaths within families of  friends from way back specially if they  have moved on  to other places or we simply lost contact through the years . What 's amazing though  is that I got to learn only about the recent demise of my friends' dads  from third-parties albeit belatedly!

I  accidentally bumped into a brethren from DeMolay  over a month ago one nice afternoon in the Mall as I visited an exclusive Lounge for some leisurely reading and a cup of coffee! He was  already there reading a mag and was the first to see me.  We heartily talked about  some things from way back and he just shared that my classmate's dad just passed away with the necrological service set the following day  at a nearby school chapel. So, fortunately,I got the chance to express my sincerest condolence to my classmate however belatedly.

Then today , just a month or so after accidentally bumping into my DeMolay brod , I accidentally saw a necrological service being replayed on tv ! And to my great surprise , it was a service for my brod's dad who passed away and whose body was cremated more than a week ago! So, I called the brod's home to offer my belated condolence.

For the second straight  time ,  I only got  to know of the demise of a friend's family member accidentally and belatedly!

If only to make up for my failure to support my classmate and brethren during their time of deep bereavement, I am offering this beautiful song to their loving fathers who passed away recently!

I posted two versions of the lyrics below because I wasn't sure which is the correct one. The first is an interpretation by Hank Williams ; and ,the second, by Red Foley. At any rate, the song itself is beautiful regardless of which version is correct.

Listen and understand the song...
