Sayings about the Holy Spirit

October 14, 2011, 10:48pm

LUKE 12:8-12

JESUS said to His disciples, “I tell you, everyone who acknowledges Me before others the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever denies Me before others will be denied before the angels of God.

“Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. When they take you before synagogues and before rulers and authorities, do not worry about how or what your defense will be or about what you are to say.  For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment what you should say.”

Reflection:

Do not worry about how or what your defense will be. People whose courage and faithfulness to the Lord and His Gospel are so steadfast have always inspired us. We have been blessed by Christians who walk the Lord’s walk and talk the Lord’s talk. They live clean, good lives and help the Church and love the poor.

My friend Nitz was a civil engineer. She established her own company as a consultant. She would often share with me her unbelievable stories – how politicians built megastructures that were not really needed by the poor, like a huge gymnasium and other ghost buildings. But they were built just so the politicians could get their percentages from the budget. There was this project they asked her to justify and recommend. But she knew it was overpriced, useless, and weak. She opposed the project even after she was offered millions as grease money. After the meeting and after failing to get her signature, they followed her car and shot her. She must have been surprised to see the gun just outside her car window that she raised her hands in shock. The bullet shot straight through her brain after leaving “nail marks” in both her palms.

Nitz always acknowledged the Lord before others! She is a heroine and a saint for me!

Make honesty your only policy.
