A not to do list

Today's Life Tips

A not to do list

Do you have a priority tasks list? Do you know the important things you need to do every day? Do you realize that it takes just a few accomplished tasks everyday to add value to your success goals in life?

Now let me take a different line of attack.

How powerful is your “NO” power? Do you know how to say “NO” to invitations for you to do stuff that would not add value to your success goals?

How is your “TO-DO LIST”? Are they filled with activities that would add value to you and your goals?

Now let me see your “NOT TO-DO LIST”? Have you crossed out activities that would rob you of your energy, time and passion, not only because they don’t add value to your success goals, but because they also even impede your ability to be a success?

Consider the following:

1. How does your daily TV time compare to your daily Quiet Time?

2. How often do you go out with the boys (or the girls)? How often do you attend a class or a seminar?

4. How does the time you spend with the most important people in your life – that is, your family – compare to the time you spend with people who love to experience pleasure under the guise of “business”?

5. How often do you rush out of the workplace so you can make it to “Happy Hour”?

Make sure you do not let your day go to waste! It’s very easy to accomplish this when one is lazy. Just look at this fellow:

He was walking through the jungle one day when a gang of vicious snails attacked him. The snails left him bleeding and confused at the bottom of a tree. Several hours later, he was able to summon enough strength to go to the police and report the assault. The desk sergeant asked him to describe his attackers.

He replied, “I don’t know what they looked like – it all happened so fast.”

Dumb isn’t it? But that’s laziness for you. The lazy person will always complain that things just happened so fast, he could not catch up.

Even the snail made it to the ark before it began to rain. But some people will never make it to success because they are just plain lazy.

Personal growth and development starts right now. And it never ends. The one thing quality top-caliber businesses and companies really look for in job applicants is no longer educational credentials. It doesn’t matter much anymore whether you come from the school with the color blue, green, maroon or even rainbow.

Educational credentials are still required of applicants, but these can only take one so far. Top-notch companies are more on the look-out for Learning Agility – the capacity to learn, relearn and unlearn.

I have been in the personal development training business for quite a while now, and have had twenty-one-year-old students sign up for my seminars. I have followed them over the years and found that they exhibit a consistent pattern: they outperform and out-achieve their peers.

The secret is no secret at all. They have learned to say “No” to things that do not add value to their success goals, and they have learned to become learners.

This world is driven and disrupted by explosive change every single moment of the day. And only the learners would benefit the most from it.
