Luke 13:31-35
On one occasion, some Pharisees came to Jesus and said, “Go away,
leave this area because Herod wants to kill You.” He replied, “Go and
tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and I perform healings today
and tomorrow, and on the third day I accomplish My purpose. Yet I must
continue on My way today, tomorrow, and the following day, for it is
impossible that a prophet should die outside of Jerusalem.’
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent
to you, how many times I yearned to gather your children together as a
hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were unwilling! Behold,
your house will be abandoned. But I tell you, you will not see Me until
the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the
Lord.’ ”
Reflection:
I must continue on My way today, tomorrow, and the following day.
This is one unfamiliar saying of Jesus, especially His reference to an
enemy as a “fox.” I love Jesus! Sometimes we get bogged down by a crisis
or a problem. We get stuck up with an issue and cannot let go of a
fight. We cannot pass off a person who may have been rude or
disrespectful to us. Not with Jesus. He knows His purpose. He has a
vision and a mission. Nothing will stop Him from moving on.
Let us not be derailed by the little obstacles along our way. Let us
not fall for the traps that may stop us from performing our bigger
tasks. Let us move forward to heed the higher call. Let us pause to
smell the flowers, yes, but not to curse the dung that we stepped on
while approaching the flowers.
We can always fight another day.
Put on fresh flowers in your room or office today.
