The Parable of the Lamp

September 18, 2011, 11:42pm
Luke 8:16-18

Jesus said to His disciples, “No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.”

Reflection:

To anyone who has, more will be given. When it rains, it pours. God is never stingy with His gifts and blessings. He will give all that we need and even more. Just be sure to share your blessings, like a lamp that lights all those around it.

A woman won the lottery. But she did not want anyone to know it because she wanted the prize all for herself. She suppressed the joy within her and tried her best to stay quiet about her luck. In her effort to conceal and contain the good news, she had a heart attack. And what she won was not even enough to pay for her hospital bills. What luck!

Go out today with just a hundred pesos in your wallet which should be used for all your needs for the day, from transport fare to your meals.
