The Philippines set up a second round meeting with ten-time Gulf Cup of Nations champions Kuwait after  defeating Sri Lanka 4-0 in the second leg of their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Sunday to advance with a 5-1 aggregate win.

With the tie tentatively poised following Wednesday's 1-1 draw in the first leg in Colombo, the Azkals were hoping home field advantage could give them an added edge.
And with 19 minutes at the Rizal Memorial Stadium played, Emelio Caligdong had the Philippines' fans celebrating the opening goal.

The home side extended their lead two minutes from the break courtesy of former Chelsea reserve striker Phil Younghusband before Spain-based midfielder Angel Guirado added to the two goals he scored against Bangladesh in the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers with the Philippines' third six minutes into the second-half.

Younghusband made it 4-0 on the night and 5-1 on aggregate from the penalty spot six minutes later to complete the scoring while the visitors' disappointment was compounded with the sending-off of Rohana Ruwan Dinesh in the last minute after the Sri Lanka skipper picked up his second yellow card.

The Philippines travel to the Middle East for the first leg of their second round qualifier against Kuwait on July 23 before entertaining the 1980 AFC Asian Cup champions in the return fixture five days later.
