MATTHEW 13:44-46
Jesus said to His disciples, “The kingdom of heaven is like a
treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and
out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again,
the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he
has and buys it.”
Reflection:
The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field.
The
question is sometimes asked as to what the most important thing is or
who the most important person is in our lives. What is that one precious
treasure for which we are willing to give up everything, sacrifice
everything, or do everything?
Ask people who have lost everything in a flood, a fire, or a
calamity. They will tell you that, after losing everything they have
kept and collected through the years, in the end their loved ones and
their lives are what matter. Standing now naked and helpless, they
discover that the most important treasure is the God who has saved them.
When you pray, try to remove everything around you until you are
left with nothing but your soul. Even that is not yours but God’s. Then
discover the pearl of great price!
List the five most important roles you play in your life and account for everything you do under each role.
