Alonso bags F1 British Grand Prix !

Finally ! That's what Team Ferrari probably felt when Fernando Alonso crossed ahead of all drivers to win the Silverstone British Grand Prix!

Indeed , this is the first time in the 2011 F1 Season that any driver won a race outside the trio of Sebastian Vettel , Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button after 9 international  races!

And to think that Alonso got some help from Red Bull's  pit crew as they botched their job  when Vettel had his second pit stop on the 27th lap! The crew's mistake literally caused him the win although he still finished second and ahead of third placer teammate Mark Webber.  Vettel , however , still leads second placer Webber for the season with Alonso closing in on him at third .

Alonso's win came as a welcome relief for the team as this was also the first time that a Ferrari has won a race in 2011 ; thus , ending its long dry spell to mark the Team's 60th anniversary for its first  ever win here !

Team Red Bull , however, won the constructors' category on account of their 2 and 3 finish in the race . It also widened their lead over Team Mclaren-Mercedes for the season's top plum with Ferrari still comfortably placed at number 3 ! 

With still 10 exciting races to go in the season , it is still anybody's race in so far as the driver and constructors categories are concerned.

The next race flags off in two week's time for the F1 Grosser Preis Santander Von Deutschland 2011 !
