It’s Boracay, not “Bora,” Mr. President!

It’s Boracay, not “Bora,” Mr. President !

What's in a name?  Call it Boracay or Bora ?

Does it make any difference?

Well , the President of  the Republic of the Philippines  erroneously referred to  Boracay as "Bora" thrice in his short speech  right in the presence of Malay , Aklan and Boracay residents during the Caticlan airport inauguration (re-inauguration?) !

Holy mackerel !

The residents of Malay town and Boracay Island are up in arms because of P-Noy's  gaffe .You see they do not want to hear you call Boracay as Bora!

So what's Bora for a name ?
Bora  is generally attributed  to Bora Bora, a popular tourist island destination in the French Polynesia Society Islands down in the South Pacific! Also beautiful and romantic like Boracay ...

See the photos below...

Now , compare Bora Bora with Boracay...

Now , that's Boracay !

So next time you visit it , don't make the mistake of calling it Bora or you'll also get the ire of the residents there!

in fact , they even "launched a campaign—'Boracay Please, Not Bora'—which urges visitors to refer to the island using its complete name so as not to confuse it with Bora-Bora, an island in the French Polynesia chain in the Pacific Ocean, also a popular tourist destination."

Calling it  Boracay will  do...

Bora ? Go look for it in the South Pacific... or be like the usually clueless P-Noy!
