AFF Suzuki Cup 1010 Finals
Heavy favorites Indonesia battles young but dangerous Malaysia tonight for the first leg of their grudge match in Kuala Lumpur! Both teams have not played against each other in any AFF Cup finals game though they already met thrice in the Semis way back.
Malaysia earned a ticket to the inaugural Finals match in the AFF Cup back in 1996 by beating Indonesia, 4-1 , in their semis match in Singapore when it was then a one game decider! Indonesia though had a chance to get back at Malaysia in 2002,1-0, on an early winner by Bambang in the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium only to lose to then powerhouse Thailand in the finals!

In 2004, Indonesia again beat Malaysia in their semis duel , 5-3, on aggregate score when the two-leg semis was first introduced but lost to Singapore 4-2 on aggregate in the Finals.
It is only in this year's Cup that both teams meet again either on a semis or finals match though Indonesia manhandled Malaysia in an earlier group stage match,5-1!
The Finals , however, are a different story all together as Malaysia has taken a 180 degree turn by getting through the group stage and beating defending champ Indonesia in their leg 1 semis match at home 2-0 and taking a scoreless draw in the return leg in Hanoi !
So it's Indonesia vs Malaysia tonight in Leg 1 of the AFF Suzuki 2010 Finals in Kuala Lumpur at 8pm (9pm Manila time).
